Richard Joseph “Rick” Coyle, age 58, of Marion, Kentucky, passed away on April 30, 2026, at his home. His death marks the loss of a respected law enforcement officer whose decades-long career spanned multiple agencies and communities, leaving a lasting legacy of service, integrity, and dedication to public safety.
Rick devoted much of his life to protecting others, serving as a deputy with the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office and as a School Resource Officer within the Crittenden County School District. In that role, he became a familiar and trusted presence to students and staff, known for prioritizing safety while also building meaningful relationships within the school community.
Prior to his service in Kentucky, Rick retired in 2019 from the Chicago Police Department after a distinguished career, and earlier served with the Will County Sheriff’s Department in Illinois. Across every assignment, he was recognized for his professionalism, steady leadership, and unwavering commitment to those he served.
Rick is survived by his wife, Jami Coyle of Marion, Kentucky; his sister, Annamaria (Bob) Iacullo of Chicago, Illinois; and his nieces Jessica (Matt Varner) Iacullo, Marissa (Andrew Derge) Iacullo, and Amanda Iacullo. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Marguerite Garner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Carmela Coyle, and his father-in-law, Roy Garner.

A service honoring Rick’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Rocket Arena in Marion, Kentucky, followed by private committal services.
