Jarrod Holt, 51, has died following a medical emergency shortly after his arrest and booking into the Galveston County Jail on May 3, 2026. His passing, which occurred within hours of being taken into custody, has prompted an independent investigation and left family and loved ones grappling with grief and unanswered questions.
According to reports, Mr. Holt was arrested by the La Marque Police Department at approximately 4:49 a.m. on a felony parole board warrant. He was transported to the Galveston County Jail around 5:39 a.m., where he underwent a standard medical evaluation conducted by University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) staff. During that evaluation, he reportedly disclosed that he had ingested cocaine.
Shortly thereafter, his condition began to decline rapidly. Jail personnel and medical staff initiated emergency life-saving measures, including CPR, before he was transported to UTMB Galveston Hospital. Despite these efforts, Mr. Holt was pronounced deceased at 6:44 a.m.
