The Bernice community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Deairio Loggins, 33, who died following a devastating two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 15 in Union Parish on Friday, May 1, 2026.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. just north of Highway 549. Preliminary investigations indicate that Loggins was traveling southbound in a 2012 Nissan Altima when, for reasons still under review, his vehicle veered off the roadway. Authorities say he attempted to regain control but overcorrected, causing the car to cross into the northbound lane.
Moments later, the vehicle was struck by a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer traveling in the opposite direction. Loggins, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
