Cody Marston, 35, of Spring Lake, Michigan, has died following a fatal motorcycle crash in the early hours of Sunday morning. The incident occurred on State Road west of 136th Avenue and is currently under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched just before 12:30 a.m. after reports of a motorcycle collision involving a pickup truck. When first responders arrived, they found Mr. Marston with severe injuries after being thrown from his motorcycle. Despite immediate life-saving efforts at the scene, he was pronounced deceased.
Preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Marston was traveling westbound on State Road when a pickup truck, driven by a 39-year-old man from Kalamazoo with two passengers inside, was backing out of a private driveway onto the roadway. Investigators report that Mr. Marston attempted to pass the vehicle on the right at the same moment, resulting in a collision with the front corner of the truck. The impact caused him to be ejected from his motorcycle.
The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured in the crash.
Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding speed, visibility, or other contributing factors. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the investigation remains active as officials work to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
