A tragic head-on collision on Whiskey Road in Aiken, South Carolina has claimed the life of 46-year-old Carla D. Garvin and left another driver in critical condition, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at approximately 4 p.m. near Ping Way when a 2024 Kia Sorento traveling northbound collided head-on with a southbound 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the pickup driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, attempted to turn into a private driveway at the time of the collision, resulting in a devastating impact between the two vehicles.

Garvin, who was driving the Kia SUV, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passing has left family, friends, and members of the Aiken community in mourning, as they come to terms with a life lost suddenly and unexpectedly.

The driver of the Ford pickup was seriously injured in the crash and transported to Wellstar MCG Health for emergency treatment. Officials confirmed the individual’s condition remains life-threatening. Their identity has not yet been released.

Authorities stated that neither vehicle carried passengers at the time of the incident. The roadway was temporarily impacted as emergency responders worked the scene and investigators documented evidence.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including factors that may have contributed to the timing and movement of both vehicles.
