The Moores Hill community is mourning the tragic loss of two men, Cole Gaylord, 27, and Kyle Inferrara, 38, who were killed in a devastating head-on collision Friday morning in Dearborn County.

According to Dearborn County Sheriff Shane J. McHenry, deputies were dispatched just before 6:30 a.m. to the area of 13108 State Route 350 following reports of a serious crash. Upon arrival, first responders discovered both drivers deceased inside their vehicles.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Gaylord was traveling westbound in a Hyundai Elantra when he attempted to pass an empty school bus in a designated no-passing zone. While in the eastbound lane, his vehicle collided head-on with a Chevy Trax driven by Inferrara, who was traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact proved fatal for both men, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that Deputy Craig Elliot of the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office is leading the ongoing investigation. The Indiana State Police reconstruction team also assisted at the scene, carefully documenting evidence to better understand the sequence of events leading up to the collision.

State Route 350 was closed for approximately three hours as emergency crews worked to manage the scene and clear the roadway.

The sudden and tragic nature of the crash has left family members, friends, and the broader community in mourning, as loved ones reflect on the lives lost and the circumstances that led to the devastating incident.

Officials have stated that the crash remains under active investigation as they work to determine all contributing factors.
