Authorities in Harris County, Texas have confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 39-year-old Yanira Nafin. The incident occurred on May 2 in the Cloverleaf area, leaving family members and the wider community in shock and mourning.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence in the 14200 block of Texarkana, where they discovered Nafin had been fatally shot. Investigators allege that she was shot by her common-law husband, Jose Arquimides Romero (born January 8, 1983), following a domestic dispute.
Authorities report that the situation escalated after Romero became upset, believing that Nafin was not taking his back pain seriously. During the incident, three children were inside the home. Officials confirmed that the children were able to hide after hearing gunfire and were not physically harmed.
