Authorities in Frenchtown Township, Michigan have arrested a suspect following a pellet gun shooting that left one person injured at a local mobile home community.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, at Kimberly Estates near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Buhl Road. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Lauren and Huntington Drive, where they found a victim suffering from a facial injury caused by a pellet gun.
Investigators say the incident stemmed from a dispute between individuals who were known to each other, indicating that it was not a random act.
Roughly five hours later, Monroe County Central Dispatch received information that the suspect’s vehicle was located within the same mobile home complex. Deputies, along with the Michigan State Police, responded to a residence on Mark Drive.
Authorities reported that officers observed the suspect inside the home before he exited peacefully and was taken into custody without incident. The weapon believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered and seized.
The suspect, a 44-year-old man, has been lodged at the Monroe County Jail. His name is expected to be released following formal arraignment.
The victim was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
Officials have emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated and poses no ongoing threat to the public as the investigation continues.
